Scheduled to open in 2026, PennSTART will be a state-of-the-art closed-loop testing, research, and training facility for emerging transportation technologies—including autonomous vehicles, robotics, and drones for private, public and academic stakeholders. It will also provide advanced training for emergency responders, transportation agencies, and research institutions, while accelerating innovation, improving transportation safety and efficiency, and supporting regional economic development. PennSTART is a joint initiative from Carnegie Mellon University, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and RIDC.

The Penn State Human-Centered Robotics Lab is at the forefront of human-robot interaction research. We are proud to present our groundbreaking projects, which include the development of novel control algorithms for an advanced upper-limb exoskeleton and the design of next-generation haptic interfaces. Their PyTorch add-on introduces artificial dendrites, enabling neural networks that are smarter, smaller, and more accurate. The tool delivers up to 90% model compression without loss of accuracy, cutting costs and carbon footprint while boosting efficiency for AI applications in the cloud.

Performance Motion Devices, Inc. (PMD) is a leader in advanced motion control technology for robotics, lab automation, medical devices, semiconductor, and industrial equipment. PMD will showcase its family of motion control ICs, digital amplifiers, drives, and boards, along with a live motor control demo highlighting precise synchronization across three axes.

Phlux makes industrial automation safer and more flexible with a 3D safety platform that eliminates the need for physical fences, making robots easier to deploy and allowing them to work efficiently alongside people. We will be showcasing this safety platform in an interactive exhibit.
