Pittsburgh Heavily Featured at Robotics Summit & Expo

May 1, 2023 | News

Pittsburgh’s world-leading robotics community will once again be heavily featured at the Robotics Summit and Expo in Boston on May 10-11!

The Robotics Summit & Expo, of which the Pittsburgh Robotics Network is proud to be an official media partner, is a multifaceted educational forum and expo dedicated to addressing the issues involved with the design, development, manufacture and delivery of commercial robotics and intelligent systems products and services. The program of keynotes and general sessions are designed to provide professionals the information they need to successfully develop the next generation of commercial robotics systems.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from 60+ industry-leading speakers, build new relationships by networking with industry colleagues and see demos from 150+ exhibitors that are showcasing enabling technologies and services to help build commercial robots. Pittsburgh companies will be well represented with keynote talks from Howie Choset of Carnegie Mellon University and Pittsburgh Robotics Network (discussing Commercializing Robotics Technologies), Laura Major of Motional (discussing Scalable AI Solutions for Driverless Vehicles), and Johnathan Hurst of Agility Robotics (discussing Human-Centric Bipedal Robots). Additional talks featuring Pittsburgh organizations include Dave Rollinson of HEBI Robotics (discussing Motion Control and Robotics Opportunities), Josh Caputo of Humotech (discussing Using Emulation to Accelerate the Development of Wearable Machines), William Sitch of Main Street Autonomy (discussing Sensor Calibration and SLAM to Increase ODD & Reduce BOM Cost) and the PRN’s own Jenn Apicella.

This year continues a tradition of Pittsburgh robotics leadership, both from the expo stage and on the exhibitor floor. Speakers in 2022 included:
Amanda Sgroi of Sarcos Technology and Robotics Corporation, who discussed supervised autonomy for outdoor mobile manipulation
Tom Galluzzo of IAM Robotics, who discussed the various paths to successful commercialization
Dave Rollinson of HEBI Robotics, who corrected the misconception that hardware is a commodity
Michael Skocik of the ARM Institute, who discussed AI-enabled robotics in manufacturing
Tony Melanson of Aethon, who discussed the opportunity landscape for mobile robots in healthcare at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum (which was co-located with the Robotics Summit & Expo)

The Robotics Summit & Expo also serves as a gathering point for those that make up the Pittsburgh robotics community.
