Joel Reed Named Interim PRN Executive Director

Apr 16, 2020 | Announcement

The Pittsburgh Robotics Network (PRN) Board is proud to announce the appointment of Joel Reed as the interim PRN Executive Director. Joel was involved early with the PRN through a position on the Executive Advisory Committee, making him uniquely positioned to continue building the organization’s momentum. In addition to his passion for the PRN mission, Joel has more than 25 years of leadership experience bringing innovative ideas and products to market

Prior to this role, Joel worked at IAM Robotics first as Vice President, before transitioning to CEO. During his tenure, IAM raised a $20M Series A funding round, tripled capacity and signed foundational customers. He began his career as a technology consultant at Ernst & Young (now Cap Gemini) but ultimately was drawn to an entrepreneurial track. His accomplishments include helping introduce the first mobile-based online storage solution at i-drive.com; developing and executing the commercialization plan of a 3D LIDAR data processing platform at Allpoint Systems, which was acquired by Autodesk; and establishing the market presence for a new class of autonomous AGVs at Seegrid, a leader of self-driving material handling vehicles.

In his role as Interim Director, Joel’s focus will be to magnify the spotlight on Pittsburgh’s automation community, one of the world’s largest robotics and artificial intelligence clusters, and to create valuable programs and an operational foundation to serve PRN members and industry stakeholders.
